The Hansen School & Community Gymnasium was a gift by an anonymous donor for the community. The donor gave $1 million for the completion of a gymnasium and community center that would be owned by the Hansen School District and shared with the City of Hansen in Idaho. The Anthony N. Fusco, Sr. Athletic & Academic Center is a beautiful additon to the Delaware Military Academy’s campus. School administration at the Academy saw a need for the students to have more space for athletic and academic activities, and decided a dome gymnasium could provide this extra space. The Eagle Event Center is the multipurpose athletic, administration, and instruction facility at Hennessey Public Schools in Hennessey, Oklahoma. The 25,000 square foot (2,322 m²) structure includes a competition gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, and other athletic activities. The floor can also be covered with carpeted tile and used for dances, assemblies, and community events. There are four team locker rooms, a referee locker room, concession stands, a training center, walking track, and a 2,000 square foot (186 m²) lobby. Louisville Community Safe Room

The Louisville Community Safe Room is a FEMA P-361 and ICC 500 rated storm shelter that can protect up to 2,218 people during severe weather. It is also a community center for the city of Louisville, Mississippi. During the school year, it is used as an activity center for two adjacent elementary schools. The multipurpose athletic and classroom facility at Spencer Public Schools K-12 campus in Spencer, Wisconsin, houses a gymnasium, wrestling room, fitness center, and more. It was part of a $5.9 million upgrade that included improvements to the elementary school portion of the existing school. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) paid $2.9 million in improvement grants since the facility is also a shelter-in-place safe room. … read more

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Great Dome is a 100-foot (30.5 m) diameter concrete and limestone dome. It sits on top of Building 10 in the heart of the MIT campus. Completed in 1916, the whole building complex is an early example of steel reinforced, concrete construction. Building the dome required a grid-like scaffolding framework to create the dome shape which was then poured with concrete and covered with limestone blocks imported from Indiana. … read more

Johnson Creek High School and Middle School is a campus of five Monolithic Domes in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin. The school houses 500 students from grades 5 to 12. It replaced the aging school characterized as having “leaky roofs, antiquated facilities, classrooms in double-wide trailers.” The total project cost the district $8.9 million. The design and use of domes saved the district an estimated $8 million, not to mention ongoing savings in heating and cooling the school. … read more

It is also a FEMA rated safe room for shelter during severe weather — including tornadoes. All doors and opening in the cafetorium are rated for severe weather.
