Monolithic Commons Library
Monolithic Commons is a library of photographs, illustrations, and stories published under open copyright licenses for easy sharing by individuals and organizations. Content contributors include the various Monolithic Dome construction companies, dome owners, dome enthusiasts, and Monolithic Dome Institute photographers.
The Monolithic Dome Institute was founded on the idea that giving away dome technology was the best way to grow the dome industry. We publish an email newsletter, offer hands-on training, write stories, publish books, and more. In keeping with our mission, we are opening our content—as much as possible—under Creative Commons licenses. Any work identified as Monolithic Commons is part of our open library and free to share by individuals, teachers, bloggers, reporters and businesses.
The Institute will also publish from open sources not part of the Monolithic Commons library. However, we cannot do this for every work. To tell the complete Monolithic Dome story, we will use contributed content still entangled with restrictive copyrights.
By default, we will identify content as “All Rights Reserved” until we can clear it for an open license.
Monolithic Commons content is typically licensed as CC BY-SA. The “BY” means “attribution,” so be sure to give credit to the creator of the work. You should link to the source material if you publish on the web or cite the source material in print. The license allows for commercial use. The “SA” means “Share Alike,” where you may remix, adapt, or build upon the material but must license the modified material under identical terms.
In other words, give credit where credit is due. Don’t misrepresent the work as your own or as an endorsement. And be generous if you add to the work.
We are in the process of auditing our content. Please be patient. It will take time.
