Bunkerville Monolithic Dome Home
Diane and John Kerst’s home is a two-story Monolithic Dome residence in Bunkerville, Nevada. In addition to their three bedrooms and four bathrooms, they have an indoor swimming pool, a balcony across the living room, a circular conch-shell shower, custom curved stairs, an office, and a state-of-the-art kitchen.
Designed by architect Frederick Crandall, the dome itself is 50-feet (15.25 m) diameter on a stem wall. For the barrel vaults on either side of the dome, one is 38-feet (11.6 m) long and 24-feet (7.3 m) wide for a triple garage, and the other is 34-feet (10.4 m) long and 24-feet (7.3 m) wide for the swimming pool. The main level is 2,800 square feet (260 m²) with 1,170 square feet (108 m²) on the upper level.
The Kerst’s collect teddy bears and they have a giant sculpture of a teddy bear facing the road.
